For the last quarter of this year, Tahanan ng Pagmamahal with your love and support was able to care for forty-two (42) children. Their basic needs such as: food, shelter, milk and clothing were all met.
A three-month old malnourished baby diagnosed with pneumonia was the newest addition to the Tahanan kids. His treatment and recovery took three (3) weeks. He was provided with multivitamins and milk. He has since, shown an increase in his weight and his skin, exhibited a healthier color. He also demonstrated growth milestones expected at his age.
As part of Tahanan’s preventive measures against sickness, two (2) sickly one-year-old babies had their vaccinations updated for MMR, PENTA, IPV, OPV and PCV. Multivitamins, appetite boosters and specially formulated milk were given to children with low body mass index.
The shelter made a bulk purchase of facemasks for the children. The kids are mandated to use them inside the shelter since twenty-three (23) of the children attending school have had symptoms like cough, colds and mild fever.
As a preventive health protocol, visitors are urged to wear their facemask as well as they enter the residential center.
The results of the Developmental Pediatric Assessment have shown that there are two kids with Language Disorder and Global Development Delay. They are scheduled to receive therapy next month.
House parents are continually coached on how to handle the children especially those with special needs to make these therapies more effective outside their scheduled sessions.
Christmas time here in the Philippines is quite long – December 24 until January 6, the Feast of the Three Kings. The kids attending school are enjoying their Christmas break now. Since this is a season for gratitude and heartfelt joy allow us to profusely thank you for all the generosity and love you’ve showered our kids this entire year. May the good Lord reward you in our behalf for all you’ve shared with us and may He bless you a millionfold.
