Many cancer patients in Ghana must travel long distances to access specialized treatment. Without affordable lodging near hospitals, patients are forced to miss appointments, sleep in unsafe conditions, or abandon treatment altogether. This project provides safe, temporary lodging for cancer patients and caregivers during long-term treatment.
Cancer treatment often requires repeated hospital visits over weeks or months. For patients traveling from rural or distant communities, accommodation near treatment centers is expensive or unavailable. As a result, patients sleep outdoors, overcrowded spaces, or return home between treatments-leading to missed appointments, treatment delays, and poorer outcomes.
By providing safe, affordable lodging close to treatment centers, this project removes a major barrier to cancer care. Patients can attend appointments consistently, reduce physical stress, and focus on recovery-leading to better treatment completion and outcomes.
This project will improve cancer survival rates by enabling patients to complete long-term treatment without interruption. Over time, it will reduce treatment abandonment, ease financial strain on families, and strengthen access to cancer care for patients from underserved communities.
