Blood to Love: A New Path of Giving

By Children Are Us Foundation | Cheer

One unit of blood, one act of love. Every donation not only saves lives but also transforms into a double force of warmth and kindness. Since August 2023, through the “Donate Blood, Earn Points, Send Love” charity program jointly launched by CAREUS Foundation and the Taiwan Blood Services Foundation, nearly 5,000 snack boxes have been delivered to children in remote areas. This innovative model integrates lifesaving efforts, sheltered workshop support, and rural care—creating a cycle of shared good that continues to grow.

From Saving Lives to Spreading Warmth:
The Love Begins with Every Donor

The source of this love comes from generous blood donors. Their donated blood becomes the lifeline for patients, while the donor-point system encourages them to give their accumulated reward points to purchase “Send Love to Tribes” snack boxes. This means each blood donation not only saves a life but also extends love to another meaningful cause—supporting both the trainees at CAREUS and children in need.

Empowering CAREUS Trainees and Adding Value to Their Lives
The snack boxes purchased through donated points directly support job training programs for adults with intellectual disabilities. With steady orders, trainees gain real work opportunities. In the sheltered workshop, trainees like A-Jui work with dedication and patience. From arranging pastries and assembling boxes to performing the final quality checks, they strive for perfection—even redoing items with the slightest flaw. Their persistence shows that they can be contributors to society, gaining dignity and pride through meaningful employment.

Nourishing Children in Remote Areas with Love and Care
These snack boxes—filled with the effort of trainees and the love of the community—are delivered monthly to elementary schools in remote tribal regions. Since launching the “Send Love to Tribes” initiative in 2008, CAREUS has aimed to help rural children feel seen, supported, and encouraged. For schools like Wugou Elementary in Pingtung, located in a “neither urban nor rural” area, accessing fresh baked goods can be challenging. The snack boxes offer timely nourishment and heartfelt support. Recently, the Kaohsiung Blood Donation Center teamed up with CAREUS trainees to deliver boxes to the school, hosting a fun blood-donation quiz activity with the cheerful “Blood Baby” mascot.

A Moving and Innovative Model of Giving
This meaningful program benefits three groups at once: blood donors, trainees with disabilities, and children in remote communities. It begins with donors’ repeated acts of giving, and extends through point donations to support job training and children’s nutrition. From August 2023 to July 2025, the collaboration between CAREUS Foundation and the Taiwan Blood Services Foundation successfully delivered 4,770 snack boxes—an achievement that fills us with gratitude.

We invite all blood donors to join this loving cycle. Donate your reward points and transform them into snack boxes that empower trainees and warm the hearts of children in rural areas.
