Building a Future Where Every Child Belongs

By James Paul | Senior Grant Writer

Foster family
Foster family

In Thailand, our project is helping reshape the future of child care by training grassroots staff who work directly with children in institutions, equipping them to support a transition from orphanages into safe, loving families. Rather than creating parallel systems, we walk alongside government partners - strengthening their capacity, supporting national policies, and building a skilled workforce that can sustain change for generations.

Through this collaboration, staff are beginning to see the profound difference family care makes: as one trainee reflected, “the thing that all children want is parents who love them… orphanages can give the four basics of life, but what’s missing is love and warmth.” Children themselves describe the transformation - “living in an orphanage is like living in a box… in a family, there is… a sense of being free," and “there is warmth and happiness.” Others speak of gaining confidence, life skills, and a sense of belonging: “I’ve learnt so much more being in a family… now I’m not afraid,” and simply, “I want to be part of your family forever.”

By working hand-in-hand with government systems, not replacing them, we are helping create lasting change - so that far beyond the children reached today, future generations will grow up in families where they are loved, supported, and able to truly thrive.

Thank you so much for your support! It really is appreciated!
