Dear Friend,
Warm greetings and thank you very much for your generous support to our project providing low-cost toilets to Typhoon Haiyan survivors. The typhoon has long gone already but still there are so many survivors needing decent sanitation facilities. There is always the problem of spread of water-borne diseases when toilet is lacking and this has to be addressed. The government makes the provision of toilet facilities to very poor beneficiaries of very low priority and sometimes regulations are promulgated but without proper implementation. This reporting period, we aimed at providing toilet production facilities in 2 villages with the idea that low implementation of toilets is because the needed hardware is not accessible. We tapped the support of village leaders so that they provide the manpower and we provide the basic hardware materials. The local village will then sell the toilet hardware and then use the sales in order to produce more. In this manner the project is sustainable. We hope to make this as a model for several villages here and we will write a case study about this.
Hoping for your continuing generous support.
Very sincerely yours,
Cora
