By Cora Sayre | Project Leader
Dear Friends,
Greetings from Leyte. I am pleased to inform you that we are continuing our regular conduct of capacity-building initiative for local masons and carpenters so that they will be able to construct low-cost latrines with support from municipalities and non-government organizations still here. This time we are able to train 53 locals in the basic skills of making toilet bowls, cylindrical septic tank, concrete flooring and housing made of bamboo mats and coconut lumber framing. The trainees comes from 3 municipalities. After the training, we will monitor the quality of their workmaship as they construct toilets in their own localities. There is still a dire need of sanitation services in Leyte as well as in neighboring Samar and your help is needed.
Very sincerely yours,
Cora
