Once again this year, Maison de la Gare brightened the lives of talibé children with a Christmas celebration full of magic and joy. Gathered in the association's center, over five hundred children enjoyed a day of solidarity and happiness in a magical atmosphere.
This year's event marked a turning point for the organization. Maison de la Gare, determined to make the event a success, took up the challenge of self-financing in collaboration with key partners. A charity event, organized in partnership with the Institut français, played a decisive role. Participants were treated to top-quality artistic performances in a warm and friendly setting. Renowned artists such as Index and Bibeline delighted the audience, while the Saint Louis choir added a touch of musical elegance.
Ticket sales for the charity evening and generous donations covered the costs of the Christmas party for the children. This outpouring of solidarity raised public awareness of the talibé children’s day-to-day reality, reinforcing the importance of a collective commitment to support them.
In the days before the party, another initiative touched the children’s hearts, the distribution of t-shirts to 600 children in ten Saint Louis daaras. This was made possible by the association Lëkkalé, a simple but symbolic gesture that brought a glimmer of hope.
A magical party in the heart of the center
On the long-awaited day, Maison de la Gare’s center was transformed into a veritable haven of celebration. Sparkling decorations, fairy lights and shimmering colors enveloped the premises in a magical atmosphere, transporting the children into a world of dreams. From the moment they arrived, the talibés, wearing radiant smiles, were swept up in a spirit of genuine warmth.
The festivities began with an educational session led by Noël Coly, who tackled themes such as hygiene and good behavior in a playful way. The children were captivated. They learned valuable lessons, but also shared laughter and moments of deep companionship.
The afternoon then gave way to festive activities. Wild dances, lively games and dance competitions immersed participants in a sense of shared joy. The “Faux lions” (fake lions), emblematic figures of Senegalese culture, aroused fascination and wonder, reminding everyone of the richness of local traditions.
A generous Santa Claus and stars in the eyes
Santa's arrival marked the high point of the day. As he distributed sweets to the children, laughter and cheers echoed through the air.
Each child received a bag of snacks to take home at the end of this memorable day, their eyes shining with happiness. Volunteers and organizers shared in the satisfaction of seeing the children leave with happy smiles and a feeling of human warmth.
