Discover Maison de la Gare’s new website
We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new website at https://en.mdgsl.com.
This is the fruit of years of efforts by our staff, partners, volunteers and others. The home page sets the tone: “Maison de la Gare changes children’s lives.” We invite visitors to dive deeper to discover our work, our impact and opportunities to help.
What We Do – “We offer children hope for a better life”
We offer hope and opportunity through eight flagship programs. Each has its own page detailing our objectives, what we do, and what the impact is.
These pages illustrate how every donation and every volunteer transform real lives.
The Children – “Let’s give them a chance in life”
Around 15,000 talibé boys live in daaras in Saint Louis, forced to beg or to work under conditions that the United Nations recognizes as modern slavery and torture.
We share an understanding of why so many boys are living under these conditions. Also, why Saint Louis is such a focal point for this practice.
And how Maison de la Gare - founded by Issa Kouyaté and friends in 2007 – intervenes every day.
Our Stories – “Maison de la Gare paves the way to a better future for the children”
Hundreds of our regular reports chronicle children’s stories, our volunteers’ experiences and much more. They are a rich source of information.
All of these are available from this section of our website. The most recent reports are easily accessed from the side bar menu. The archive of all earlier reports can be reached by clicking on the final entry of this menu.
Who We Are – “Maison de la Gare is an oasis of hope for children”
Meet our dedicated staff and our governing Board here. Read our Child Protection Policy and Code of Conduct. And explore profiles of our partner organizations – past and present. You will also find here our annual reports back to 2016, and maps showing where we are.
This section of the website is a one-stop shop for potential volunteers. Browse detailed role descriptions, and discover first-hand accounts of volunteers from Algeria, Austria, England, France and the United States.
Ready to make a difference? Everything you need is here. Complete your application using the online form.
We will be delighted to welcome you as one of the first visitors to our new website. Please share it with your friends and invite them to subscribe to our newsletter using the link in the footer of every page.
______
We are grateful to the MBA students at Georgetown Global Consulting who set us on the path to this new website. Also, to our precious volunteers Ella Holliday and Élodie Demontoux who developed many of the early ideas. And especially to Leon Pyle of Friends of Senegal who inspired the final design, and to Bruce Bayard of Talent, Oregon who provided critical technical support every step of the way.
