Supporting Aron's growth together!

Hi [donor name],

Aron, María’s son, is almost two years old and the youngest of her three children. At home, every day is a challenge: feeding the family with limited resources, taking care of the children, working in the fields, stretching every bit they have.

María, 29, speaks K’iche’, a Mayan language, and works in agriculture. Her husband, 34, works as a construction worker. They married when she was 16. Their older children, ages 5 and 8, attend school. The family’s greatest challenge is financial: money is not enough, and food prices keep rising.

When Aron began showing signs of poor growth, the local health center referred him to our Family-Centered Nutrition program. At his first visit, he was 20 months old: weighed 9.7 kg and measured 75 cm. The diagnosis was moderate growth delay.

Since then, a nutrition technician has visited their home in Chuti Estancia, San Andrés Semetabaj, Sololá every month. She evaluates Aron, provides guidance, and delivers nutritional supplement. In addition, the family receives monthly food supplies, including beans and eggs. At the most recent visit on May 20, Aron’s progress was already visible: he had reached 10.1 kg and 77.5 cm in height.

Despite the limitations, María does everything she can to feed her children well. Her greatest hope is that all three of them can finish school. Every step forward in Aron’s growth reflects his family’s dedication and the support provided by the Nutrition program in rural communities like theirs.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Andrea Enriquez
