Dear allies,
We are happy to share that we are in the final stages of completing the Bosque-Espino land purchase.
The purchase process is nearly complete. Once the bank loan has been fully settled, the property will be formally registered in the Public Registry under its new ownership. Over the coming weeks, we will also conduct a walkthrough of the property with neighboring landowners, document the forest with updated drone imagery, and oversee the removal of the remaining cattle, as the previous owners' six-month transition period comes to an end.
Once these steps are complete, we will launch a dedicated Bosque-Espino page on our website, where we will share updates on the forest, its biodiversity, and our long-term conservation plans.
With the land purchase now reaching completion, we will also be closing this project on GlobalGiving. As a small community-based organization in rural Panama, the platform's monthly transfer requirements and international banking fees make it difficult for us to use efficiently at our current fundraising scale. This marks the conclusion of this specific campaign—not of our conservation work. We hope to return to GlobalGiving when another project is a good fit for the platform.
Thank you for your trust and for making the permanent protection of this forest possible. We look forward to sharing the next chapter of the Bosque-Espino story with you.
With gratitude,
AMIGOS DEL BOSQUE OBC
