Sundarbans the world’s largest mangrove forest with complex ecosystem is under threat and our prime concern is to protect it. Regarding this issue and to protect the coastal communities from natural disaster, BEDS has been planting mangrove till 2013. Till now BEDS has planted more than 270000 mangroves around the coastal belt of Sundarbans engaging local community. BEDS has already established mangrove nursery to support mangrove plantation.
BEDS has been trying to alter the livelihood of the coastal people, so that they can decrease their dependence on natural resources. BEDS has been trying to moving towards more sustainable way to restoration involving future generation.
One of the children from coastal community expressed his feelings, “I live adjacent to Sundarbans. There is a river beside the pond of my father. Last few years due to natural disaster our pond embankment broke down and river water flashed out our pond, house and even my playground also. It created lot of damage to us. So, to get rid of being washed out by the river water me and my father are now planting mangrove in our pond dyke and along river bank with the association of BEDS.
So, its our urges to our donor to make it possible for them to plant more and more mangroves so that they can survive coastal calamities.
We would like to thank all our donors for their contribution and faith for us. We are also requesting our donors to start monthly recurring donations. For recurring donation please find the link below;
