Sundarbans mangrove forest is the safe guard of almost 3.5 millions of vulnerable coastal people. It is a UNESCO declared the Natural World Heritage and RAMSAR wetland site. But this mangrove forest is losing its assets due to destructive activities of human and climate change.
Bangladesh Environment and Development Society (BEDS) is a environmental development organization working for the betterment of coastal community and conserving the Sundarbans mangrove ecosystem. This is the reason why BEDS wants to plant 100000 mangrove saplings all over the Sundarbans coastal region of Bangladesh. Riverbank erosion is a very common event here. So, to protect the coastal belt and restoration of mangroves BEDS aims at this activity. Target grant of the project is 99,910$ and so far, 150 $ is raised from donors. We hope we will be able to implement our proposed Mangrove Plantation activities in near future with the help of the donors.
People of Banishanta Bazar and Purbo Dhangmari village have been suffering from acuteness of riverbank erosion since last year. So, they are in a serious problem. BEDS is trying to help the victim villagers by providing them necessary advices.
We disseminated the news among them that we are trying our level best to raise the required funds for mangrove plantation activities.
