Mangroves have significant value for environmental protection. BEDS (Bangladesh Environment and Development Society) has been working for restoring mangroves since 2013.
BEDS has a plan to plant 25000 mangrove saplings at Shyamnagar sub district of Satkhira district. On 10 May 2021, BEDS has been inaugurated 25000 mangrove plantation activity involving coastal community. On 10 May, 140 villagers village had planted 500 mangrove saplings at Mathurapur village maintaining social distance and health safety. On that day, they committed that they will plant 25000 mangroves within 9 June 2021 and will take care of the planted saplings. A delightful environment had created and the villagers were enjoying their mangrove plantation activity. On 11 May, the villagers planted 945 mangrove saplings and on 12 May, they planted 880 mangrove saplings. Till now they have planted 2,325 mangrove saplings. They said, “we are planting mangroves with care and we will plant 25,000 mangroves within 9 June 2021 for making green belt.” We would like to thank all our donors for their contribution for us.
