Mangroves are important for the safety and survival of the coastal people. BEDS (Bangladesh Environment and Development Society) has been working for restoring mangroves since 2013.
A devastating cyclone Yash lashed out at the Sundarbans coastal region of Bangladesh. After the cyclone attack, local people have increased their speed to plant the mangroves. So that they can reach our goal of planting 25,000 mangrove samplings. Number of mangroves planted from 28 May 2021 in each day is:
28 May 1050 mangroves, 29 May 1080 mangroves, 30 May 1150 mangroves, 31 May 980 mangroves, 1 June 1045 mangroves, 2 June 1075 mangroves and 3 June 955 mangroves. Among 25,000 mangrove saplings, we have already planted 19,980 mangrove saplings. Hope that we will be able to plant all the targeted mangrove saplings within 8 June 2021.
