Mangroves act as a savior for the community adjacent to the mangrove forest. BEDS (Bangladesh Environment and Development Society) has been working for restoring mangroves since 2013. Till now BEDS has planted 250000 mangrove saplings.
BEDS had a goal to plant 25,000 mangrove saplings within 9th June 2021. BEDS has successfully planted 25,000 mangrove saplings involving local community. It was difficult to reach the goal without the active participation of the local community. Number of mangroves planted from 4 June 2021 in each day is:
4 June 1120 mangroves, 5 June 1010 mangroves, 6 June 1035 mangroves, 7 June 975 mangroves. 8 June 530 mangroves and 9 June 880 mangroves. The local people are very happy to reach the goal. They are working hard every single day to reach the goal. Hope the, we will be able to create green belt in the Sundarbans coastal region together with local community.
