Mangroves are one of the most important ecosystems among the tropical forests. BEDS (Bangladesh Environment and Development Society) has been working for restoring mangroves since 2013. Till now BEDS has planted 2,70,000 mangroves in the Sundarbans coastal region.
BEDS has been motivating the coastal communities to plant mangroves and taking care of the planted mangroves. BEDS involve more and more people to the coastal people. So that they can understand the importance of mangrove in their life. Today BEDS has planted 500 mangrove saplings with the local children at Mathurapur village under Shyamnagar sub district of Satkhira district. One of the children shared her feeling, “Mangrove saves us from cyclones, I will plant more mangroves in the future and will take care of the small mangroves. One day this mangroves will become big plants”
