Mangroves which are considered as coastal wetlands are facing severe degradation problem. focusing on this issue this year BEDS have celebrated world wetlands day 2023 on 2nd February. the theme for this year was it's time for wetland restoration.
So, BEDS have organized a discussion session with the coastal women group to create awareness among them about conservation of wetlands. The women who normally engaged in household activities get to know about the real situation of their neighboring wetlands Sundarbans. The women group then planted mangrove in the adjacent riverbank side to increase the area of wetlands which is really a tiny initiative but vey impactful act in the local level.
BEDS have been restoring mangroves since 2013 together will the local community. BEDS believe that any conservation initiatives can be successful when the local people will understand the need for conservation and they will take initiative to conserve it
