Mangrove restoration along the river bank side is one of the major initiatives that to protect the coastal community from coastal embankment erosion and increases biodiversity of the adjacent ecosystem. BEDS has been working since 2013 for the restoration of mangroves for coastal embankment protection together with the local people. In the year 2022 BEDS restored almost 46 ha areas by planting more than 250000 mangroves with the assist of local people, BEDS has also fenced every plantation plot with proper fencing to protect the planted mangroves from the grazing of cattle and unwanted human activities. As a result the mangroves get it’s own place to grow in good health. Also, natural regeneration process happened as a result of fencing and regional biodiversity has increased.
