Coastal community and mangroves are both are vital element of coastal ecosystem. Mangroves protect the coast and coastal environment. Due to the human interference mangroves forests are declining day by day. So this is the time to plant mangroves in the coastal periphery. Who can do this? Local people can do this plantation work.
Bangladesh Environment and Development Society (BEDS) are implementing mangrove restoration activities in the coastal periphery along with the local community. BEDS provide logistic supports and training to the community. The team members always visit the community to mobilize the community. They discuss the opportunities, plant patterns, planting issues etc. with the people. Local people are planting trees, fencing the plants, taking care of them, monitoring the plots. Community is the main asset for planting mangroves. So BEDS team always maintain a good relationship with the community by providing different logistic facilities to them.
