Nowadays people are suffering from excessive heat wave due to increasing the temperature of the earth. People can realize the necessity of the tree plantation. Without trees nobody can alive. Mangroves are also very important for the coastal people. In recent years people are cutting mangroves for different purposes like making river embankment and road, houses, dam etc. Due to this human interference many climate change impact have been seen in the environment.

The environment is changing day by day. River bank erosion, salinity intrusion with soil, loss of mangrove species, biodiversity degradation etc. are the common impact of climate change in southern coastal region. People are losing their houses, agricultural land, livestock’s etc. due to different natural calamities super cyclone, flood.

Since 2011 Bangladesh Environment and Development Society (BEDS) is working for the coastal people of the Sundarbans by planting mangroves. In this year BEDS with Commercial Bank of Ceylon, Bangladesh has been planted 5000 mangrove seedlings in a hector of river side land at Golakhali, Shayamnagar, Satkhira, Bangladesh. The major species Heritiera fomes (Sundori), Avicennia officinalis (Baen), xylocarpus mekongensis (Poshur), Bruguiera gymnorhiza (kankra) etc. have been planted in the land. BEDS think that this initiative can change the life of the coastal people. The mangroves can protect the people from different natural disaster. It also can improve the livelihood condition of the local people.
