By Md. Maksudur Rahman | Project Leader
I was with our Mangrove Army and Mangrove Hero for several days. They are the main players in the rehabilitation of the mangroves in Bangladesh's coastal Sundarbans area. They are working nonstop to restore the harm that Cyclon Remal wrought. I engaged them throughout my visit by helping with plantation work, keeping an eye on things, providing capacity-building training, and having a lot of fun.
Cyclone Remal not only devastated the mangroves but also all the necessary boats, farms and shrimp farms in addition to destroying their homes. Many households don't know where they'll live after they lose their last plot of land. I am unable to respond to them.
