As Spring turns to summer the heat and humidity rises the harder and harder it gets for the elderly to come and pick up thier medications.
Marie came in and couldn't even make it to the desk to pick up her medication. She plopped down on the couch in the AC and was greeted by our staff and given a glass of cold water. She wiped her brow and whispered a "thank you" as she leaned back and drank her water. After a few minutes she revived and she made her way to the desk to recieve the medication. After taking her medication for the month she refilled her water and said another "thank you" hand to her heart and joy filled eyes before she heads back out to the short but hot walk home.
Some of those who are very old and cannot make it out in the heat we bring tne medications to. Sometimes though we prefer this. In these we get to visit and hear more of thier stories.
Many express that they don't know where else they would get thier medication. There is often eyes full on the edge of tears with pain but also with thankfulness that they can know that though it is hard, they are not alone.
