Medications for Oncological report April-Jun 2019

By Oksana Gozdachenko | Senior Fundraiser

The total expenditures of the Tabletochki foundation for medicines and supplies in April-June 2019 amounted to $ 191412. Of these, $ 46807 went to targeted assistance for children who’s families have applied to the foundation for help, and $ 139939 to help 17 children's oncology departments all over Ukraine. Administrative costs for the project amounted to $ 4666.

During April-June 2019, the foundation purchased over 100 different drugs like Avastin, Avelox, Vancomycin,Dexamethasone, Exijad, Quamatel, Metropenem Vista, Oncospar, Revolad, Temomedak and many others.

And here is a story why it is so important to supply the children oncological units with all necessary drugs. A child of 10 months old with anemia Blackfan-Diamond was hospitalized with complaints of body temperature 37.2, anxiety. In the morning, the child’s condition worsened. Doctors urgently performed a lumbar puncture and neurosonography and diagnosed acute purulent meningoencephalitis. They began standard therapy, but after 2 days the number of cells in the cerebrospinal fluid in a child increased from 700 to 22,000 !!! (normally there should be up to 5 of them). The child was transferred to artificial lung ventilation. Doctors immediately started the best therapy from the one they had - Medopenem, Vancomycin, Levofloxacin, Zovirax - all the drugs were purchased by Tabletochki foundation. After 3 days the child began to recover.

This baby has a long way to recovery - courses of chemotherapy, bone marrow transplantation from an unrelated donor. But most importantly, he was reanimated and they gave him a chance to live. That’s what our foundation is working for. About 400 children with caner are under the care of the Tabletochki foundation every month.
