Medications for Children`s Oncological Units

30% of all cancer cases diagonsed refer to cancer among children under the age of 6. Blood cancer constitutes 50% of all cases of child hematological malignancies. Ukraine ranks 5th in Europe in terms of child mortality from cancer. Unfortunately, government does not provide enough medicines for kids with such diagnoses. As a result of that kids do not get proper treatment and suffer from not being able to receive needed medicines for recovery or at least for a little relief from their pain.

One of the most important task of Charity Fund Tabletochki(Pills) is to supply hospitals with those medications that are not financed by the state. Moreover, since governmental tenders for purchasing of medications do not take place for months, Tabletochki covers this gap as well.

We wish that in the nearest future there would be no need to fill in this gap, but now we are kindly asking to support our beneficiaries.

Since Tabletochki(Pills) has started taking part in providing help for Ukrainian kids with cancer desease, and for hospitals dealing with such kids, 1 650 young patients received help in the amount of $1 391 734.

We purchase medications and medical supplies for the Center of Hematological Cancer and Bone Marrow Transplantation at the Okhmatdit Clinic, Reference Center for Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics and Metrology at the Okhmatdit Clinic and for Kyiv Reginal Childhood Oncology Center as well as for the patients from 13 regional Oncological centers.

Usually we purchase the most up-to-date and the most effective medications, which are very expensive. These are the medications for anti-fungal and anti-tumor therapy, supportive care and immunotherapy. It is the government who should purchase many of necessary medications, but as a rule, tenders for such purchases are either held with significant delays or not held at all. Therefore many of the pills couldn't be purchased in the pharmacy that is around the corner, as they are not registered in Ukraine

Though if the medicines appear in the pharmacies, prices for them are extremly high and most of the families can hardly afford them.

In 2016 expenses of medical supplies exceeded 400 000 USD.

For the last three months, Charitable Fund Tabletochki(Pills) spent 1 860 850 UAH (64 361 EUR) for purchasing medications: 2791 packages of pills, solutions, antibacterial medications, antemetics, anti-tumor and other medications.

We have also purchased 10 sets of Trima Accel for platelets, infusion sets for Okhmadit Hospital, filter systems for red blood cells, Imugard III-PL filters and biopsy needles for the oncohematology department.
