In our work we base on complex and regular help to the children with oncology and their parents all over Ukraine. We purchase medications for regional hospitals, solve strategic health issues on the governmental level, engage volunteers form all regions of Ukraine.
The past three months have been very active, full of events and results, namely:
1. On June 29 the “Access to the intensive care units” campaign got the European Communication Award 2017 in Brussels as the best communication campaign among non-profit organizations. It was the first prize in that nomination ever won by Ukraine.
The victory in this nomination is a good chance to remind everyone that both adult and child reanimations should be open for the patients’ relatives. There is nothing impossible for those people who do not remain indifferent and choose to be proactive. Together we can achieve many goals and provide significant changes in Ukraine.
«Access to the intensive care units» unites 50 non-profit organizations, civil activists and volunteers. This campaign has a zero budget and contains 10 000 man-hours. This campaign opened nearly 700 departments of intensive therapy all over Ukraine for 200 000 patients and almost 1 000 000 relatives a year.
2. However, apart from working systematically we still manage to keep the individual focus on a child and child’s needs. For example, this summer we helped to implement a wish of Olena, who gets her treatment in Kyiv regional oncologic dispensary, takes the course of chemotherapy and gets ready for the operation. The girl missed times when she was healthy and did horseracing. That’s why she dreamt of getting back to her previous life as soon as possible.
We organized a small trip to the equestrian club, where Olena managed to do horse riding, which brought her much joy and happiness.
3. The child’s survival depends on the duration of the curing process, which is based on forehanded availability of the required medications. Though the government purchases only a part of the required medications and their price is extremely high, while the salary of Ukrainian families is not enough to cover the expenses not only for the medications but even for such essentials as food. Together with you we provide support to these families by means of buying necessary medications.
In May we collected 100 000 USD. We bought medications and medical equipment for 90 000 USD. We purchased 2 779 items of antibacterial, antiemetic, antitumoral and other medicines for the patients of 8 oncological departments of Kyiv and regional hospitals. We also spent 14 300 USD on consumables, 8 770 USD on medical equipment and 100 USD on a boiler for the hospital. The biggest purchase this month was an antifungal medication Vyfend, which costed 8 442 USD for 50 small bottles.
In June we collected 134 615 USD. We bought medications and medical equipment for 105 770 USD. We also purchased 2793 items of antibacterial, antiemetic, antitumoral and other medicines for the patients of 9 oncological departments of Kyiv and regional hospitals. We spent 21 310 USD on consumables. Our biggest purchase in June were sets required for the blood separator Amikus, which costed 16 610 USD for 68 items.
In July we raised 54 231 USD. We spent 101 923 USD on the medications and medical equipment. We also purchased 2588 items of antibacterial, antiemetic, antitumoral and other medicines for the patients of 7 oncological departments of Kyiv and regional hospitals. We spent 21 310 USD on consumables. Our biggest purchase in July was Trima Accel sets, that costed 16 800 USD for 78 items.
In August we will continue to support the medical reform, control purchases of medications for 2017 and will pursue forehanded governmental payment for patients' treatment abroad.
Thank you very much! Everything is possible only with your support!
