Introduction

Adjah Cancer Support Ghana is dedicated to improving the lives of children battling cancer. Our latest initiative, "Medications for Paediatric Oncological Units," aims to ensure that essential medications are readily available for young patients undergoing cancer treatment in Ghana. This report outlines the project's objectives, activities, and impact.

Objectives

  • Supply Essential Medications: Provide a consistent supply of crucial medications for pediatric oncology patients.
  • Support Treatment Protocols: Ensure that all necessary drugs are available to adhere to treatment protocols.
  • Improve Treatment Outcomes: Enhance the overall treatment outcomes and quality of life for children with cancer.

Activities

  1. Needs Assessment:

    • Conducted thorough assessments of paediatric oncological units across major hospitals in Ghana to identify medication shortages and specific needs.
  2. Partnerships:

    • Established partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, healthcare providers, and international NGOs to secure donations and discounted medications.
  3. Procurement and Distribution:

    • Procured essential medications such as chemotherapy drugs, antibiotics, pain management drugs, and supportive care medications.
    • Coordinated the distribution of these medications to the identified paediatric oncology units, ensuring timely and equitable access.
