A healthy community is a happy community. Gift of the Givers has been providing support to Malawi’s heath care sector for many years and continues to do so.
The organisation has been working with the Blantyre District Health Office to treat malnutrition in 16 health facilities.
We assess patients on ART or TB treatments for malnutrition and when found to be either severely or moderately malnourished, they are provided with food supplements monthly until their body mass index is normal again.
Cataract remains the leading cause of blindness in Malawi, responsible for nearly half of all cases among people aged 40 and above.
Determined to change this narrative, Gift of the Givers Foundation teamed up with Nkhoma Mission Hospital and Mlambe Mission Hospital in a life-changing initiative aimed at restoring vision and hope.
251 sight-restoring cataract surgeries were successfully performed.
