Thank you everyone for your continued support of our First Mate pgrogram! Aspen celebrated her first birthday on February 26, 2016 with a few toys and a cup cake made just for her (no sugar or grain!). We have been out in the community talking to organizations about the benefits of a Therapy Dog.
Aspen still comes with me into the office 3 days a week. She patiently waits for clients to come in for a cuddle.
Aspen also presented at our Lake County DV/SA Taskforce meeting on February 16th. She was a hit! We invited her TDI trainer- Lisa Bataska to join us for the morning. One of our clients also joined us and, as you can see by the pic, Aspen stayed right by her side giving her support while she shared her love for animals and how she has enjoyed the presence of Aspen at our office.
Finally, Aspen visited a local girl scout troop and we talked about the difference between a Therapy Dog and a Service Dog. As the girls sat on the floor and watched a 4 minute video on Therapy Dogs, Aspen put herself right in the center of the girls, cuddled up and watched the video too. It was very sweet!
In March, Aspen began skills building. Her next TDI training begins March 29 2016. We plan to test at the end of the seven week training. Wish us luck!
We will continue to post pictures and progress. Thank you again for all your support! We could not do this project without you!
