Dear Friends,
We often tell you about why we provide maternity care to families in need. Today in this report we want to introduce you to our concept of how we provide that care, and thank you for supporting a model proven to get good outcomes!
Our Mercy In Action-sponsored birth centers are led by midwives providing care to families called The Midwives Model of Care™. The Midwives Model of Care™ is a MotherBaby-Family-centered philosophy that views pregnancy and birth as normal life events, focusing on continuous support, personalized education, and minimizing technological interventions when not necessary. It involves monitoring the woman's physical, psychological, and social well-being throughout the childbearing year, providing individualized care, and offering warm, comforting support during labor and after birth.
This unique model emphasizes a trusting partnership between the woman and her care provider, aiming to promote healthy outcomes physically, emotionally, and spiritually throughout the maternity care process. The Midwives Model of Care™ emphasizes a positive and empowering relationship between the mother and her baby, her entire family, and the midwife team who is caring for them. This model of respectful care is valuable for all families, especially those who are often overlooked due to their socioeconomic status and lack of ability to pay for care. At Mercy In Action sponsored birth centers, all care is provided free of charge to the patient!
Your ongoing kindness in supporting our birth centers makes it possible for us to support the midwives in continuing to provide outstanding care in accordance with the Midwives Model of Care™.
Blessings and love,
Vicki Penwell for the Mercy in Action Team
