By Kyra Zimmerman | Manager, Grants Grant Program
For the past two and a half years, we have written to you about how your donations have reached our partners through the Middle East Crisis Relief Fund. But it’s hard to fully put into words what your generosity has made possible for communities navigating unimaginable circumstances.
Since we last connected, the situation has only grown more dire: Innocent deaths continue in Gaza, while more than 800,000 civilians are currently displaced inside Lebanon after fighting erupted in March between Hezbollah and the Israeli army.
Amid these challenges, our partners are relentless in their efforts. To date, donations from this fund have reached 41 of these community-based partners, spread across approximately 100 grants, to support their bravery and persistent strength. In many cases, they’re quite literally keeping families alive: they’re getting medicine to those needing it, making meals from limited resources, and stretching resources and networks to provide healing from trauma, ongoing support to livelihoods, and continued access to education—even through the horrors of war.
As one example, Sunbula, while working to support artisans cut off from their livelihoods, shared:
“As we have not been able to support income-generation work since October 7th, as it has been impossible to bring [artisans] products out of Gaza...our efforts have been focused on emergency aid, such as food parcels, learning space for children, psychosocial support activities and direct cash assistance. The partnership with GlobalGiving has given us a great deal of financial security and broader reach outside our own network.”
Another organization, Alawite Islamic Charity Association, shared this as they scaled up their emergency response in Lebanon:
“As a locally rooted organization in Tripoli, this flexible funding helps us deliver immediate, dignified assistance and maintain essential community services for families affected by the crisis.”
We also wanted to share a deeper glimpse into the efforts of recent grantees from this fund. Your grant has also supported:
In times of dire crisis and uncertainty, your support of the GlobalGiving Middle East Crisis Relief Fund helps organizations continue to show up with care, respect, and speed for their communities. Thank you - we could not do this without you.
In solidarity,
Kyra + the GlobalGiving Team

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.
We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.
They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
