The Mikis Women Center project enables conflict-affected and displaced women in Limbe to become economically independent. We do this through business training, seed funding, and long-term mentorship. For a bit more than $120, you can fully support one woman to start her business, increase her income, and provide for her family. On average, women increase their income by 30-50% after participating. So far, the program has supported 60 women in Southwest Cameroon.
Challenge Since 2018, the Anglophone crisis has displaced thousands of women. Many have survived extreme hardship, lost their property, and arrived in towns like Limbe with no means of subsistence. Most women rely on informal trade without business skills or access to credit. They are unable to provide for their families or plan for the future, leaving them trapped in poverty.
We provide women with 1 week of practical business training (bookkeeping, marketing, digital finance), a 50,000 XAF (~$33) seed grant to start or grow a business, and 6 months of mentorship from local businesswomen. Peer savings groups and monthly check-ins with business visits ensure ongoing support and accountability for each woman's success.
