Preparing for the 500km Charity Ride

By Kozue Oka | Executive Director

Dear Donors,

We wanted to share exciting updatea on the progress of this year’s KIWL charity ride initiative and the dedicated team of cyclists currently training for the big event in May

2026 Route
This year’s Knights in White Lycra (KIWL) ride is taking our cyclists through brand-new territory: a 500km route from Shiga to Osaka! We are proud to have a diverse group of approximately 50 riders this year, ranging from seasoned KIWL veterans to brave newcomers. The group recently gathered for a Social Night, where teams officially met and began building the camaraderie necessary to push through 500km of cycling.

Training to Mitake with Mirai no Mori Youth
The riders have already been training hard, and a highlight of the season so far was the training ride from central Tokyo to Mitake. Upon arrival, the riders received a very special welcome from Mirai no Mori program graduates. These are young adults who grew up in care homes and are now living independently. They joined the event to learn more about the KIWL initiative, meet the amazing people who have supported their growth through Mirai no Mori, and celebrate community over a BBQ and traditional British treats.

What’s Next?
The hard work continues as the team enters their final month of preparation. Stay tuned for further updates in May, when the riders officially head out to tackle the 500km challenge.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Your support is vital to expanding our impact on marginalized children in Japan.
