Rural youth gain much from Mobile Career Cafe

Since the launch of the Mobile Career Cafe (MCC) on Youth Day - 16 June 2021 - in Worcester, two more towns (areas) were visited: Wolwekloof (close to Ceres) and Caledon, reaching a total of 44 unemployed young people from rural areas.  A baseline study is done at every MCC and the results are impressive. To view the outcomes from the Wolwekloof MCC, click on this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YQ39lRru7E

We are still processing all the results from Caledon, but we do know from the evaluation that 0% - yes, zero % - felt that there were employment or learning opportunities in their town for them to pursue.  After the MCC visit, a whopping 92% felt they could identify potential employment and learning opportunities in Caledon. Creating hope is so vital for youth who become prone to mental health issues if they experience or view their chances of earning an income, to be zero.

After the third MCC in Caledon, the official responsible for work-based learning of students from Boland College, wrote the following email to AVA: "I loved your team’s approach to life in general and how you have built your course around spotting opportunities and then preparing oneself to capitalise on those opportunities. It is a very fresh and modern take on Job Readiness that I have not witnessed yet. I would love to work with you next year and possibly schedule these type of sessions at all 5 our campuses during the year".

It's results such as these that has lead to AVA being approached by other organisations to visit more towns ... and return again.  We are heading back to Wolwekloof this month. And all of this is possible, because of your support and donations.  You have enabled us to grow this impactful initiative that provides a critical service to unemployed young people from rural and underserved areas in South Africa. Again, THANK YOU!!!
