Mobile Learning Units: Make Rajasthan Future Ready

By Sumedha Sharma | Project Leader

Dear Global Givers,

With technology at its peak, iPartner India has taken a significant step forward by introducing the Mobile Learning Unit (MLU) program to those who need it most. Focusing on empowering girls from 27 villages in Rajasthan, the MLU aims to bridge the education gap for the most marginalized communities.

While offline donations have been significant and greatly appreciated, there is still an urgent need for additional support from donors online. In the past quarter, there has been a significant increase in enrollment. During the reporting period, 182 students registered for the computer course, which indicates an increasing demand for computer courses within the community.

Throughout its operation, the center has successfully achieved its objectives. Providing valuable education and computer skills has empowered students to compete confidently in the job market, thus restoring their dignity and self-assurance. Moreover, the center's efforts have contributed to reducing vulnerability in the community, as more girls find meaningful employment, steering them away from potential risks such as commercial sexual exploitation.

The course structure at the MLU has effectively delivered hands-on experience with computers. Students must attend at least 21 classes over three months, each required to take a practical skill test to attain the certificate. The unit runs nine batches daily with opportunities for students to attain an additional one-hour class that has facilitated comprehensive learning opportunities for these bright young minds,

The employment outcomes of the center have been commendable, with several students securing positions in various sectors. Notably, one student is now employed in an e-Mitra center (a kiosk that facilitates online services offered by the Government), while another has found work in a Wi-Fi network company.

Additionally, one student successfully handles bookkeeping, billing, and accounting at a stationary shop, and another has secured a position in a call center. Moreover, 25 students registered with a financing company and are now employed in the Village itself.

In terms of fundraising efforts, we have achieved some success offline. While this has been promising, we are far from reaching our goal. Continued financial support is crucial to sustaining the unit’s operations and expanding its outreach to positively impact more lives within marginalised communities.

Together, let us embrace the power of technology to uplift the underprivileged and provide them with the tools to thrive in an AI-driven world. Your support can be a transformative force in shaping a better tomorrow for rural India.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Team iPartner India
