Healthcare Yet to Reach Displaced Families

By Joy Ojochogwu Etubi | Project Leader

Dear Donors,

We are appealing for support for the Mobile Healthcare for Internally Displaced People project. At this time, no donations have been received. Without funding, we are unable to deploy mobile medical teams to IDP camps where families urgently need healthcare services.

Nigeria has one of the largest internally displaced populations in Africa, with about 3.7 million people forced from their homes due to conflict and disasters. Many live in camps or temporary settlements without access to hospitals or regular medical care. Children, pregnant women, and elderly persons face increased risk from malaria, infections, and untreated illnesses.

Most IDP camps are located far from health facilities, and many families cannot afford transportation or treatment costs. As a result, preventable illnesses continue to spread, and minor health conditions can become life-threatening without early care.

This project will operate mobile clinics that travel to IDP camps on a regular schedule. Each visit will include doctors, nurses, and trained volunteers who will provide free medical checkups, treatment, and essential medicines. Health education sessions will also be conducted to teach families about hygiene and disease prevention. Medical records will be kept to allow follow-up care and proper monitoring of patients.

Bringing medical services directly to displaced families will help reduce untreated illnesses and improve health conditions in the camps. Children and mothers will receive timely care, and communities will benefit from regular access to medical support.

At present, no funds have been raised, and the mobile clinics cannot begin operations. We kindly ask for your support to help us bring lifesaving healthcare services to displaced families who have no other access to care.

Sincerely,

Joy Ojochogwu Etubi
