Project Report | Jul 5, 2022
Spring activities

By Andrei Craciun | Project leader

As the pandemic ended and all the restrictions were lifted, we returned to normal with our activities. We continued to go to rural communities and to work with children in their own environments. The main activities are focused on: communication, development of interpersonal relationships, leadership, development of mathematical skills, educational games, sports, health education and acceptance.

The mobile school is very attractive for children and teachers also, they even play with us sometimes, during the activities. We are happy to see that we have a positive impact in the communities we work with and that non-formal education is attractive for teachers too. Through our activities, we offer them ideas and good practices on how to make school more attractive for children.

In the last months, another problem occurred. The war in Ukraine made many people leave their whole lives behind and seek refuge in our country.

We gave our support to 52 orphaned children from Ukraine who are currently housed in an orphanage in Iasi. We visited them with the mobile school, inviting them in the activities with the help of translators, which greatly facilitated the interaction. Even if at the beginning the children were shy and quiet, after a while, they got involved in the activities and approached us. It is not easy to have a successful interaction without being able to speak the same language, but we have learned that the games, the smiles and the joy have the same language in all countries.

We intend to continue working with the orphans from Ukraine and to train a special team of experts who speak Ukrainian.

Long term, because the summer school holiday has just begun we intend to increase our activities. This means that for 3 months the children will have more free time and we can organize more non-formal and fun outdoor activities.
