Mobile School - Education for Children in Romania

We are happy to announce that we have started a new project, in three new disadvantaged communities from Iasi: Rediu, Scheia and Schitu Duca. This project will end in December 2023, until then, we aim to support activities with the Mobile School with 370 children. So far, we have managed to reach 103 children from all three communities. Besides this new project, we continue to work with children from Ceplenita with a total number of 35 children; Raducaneni with a total number of 48 children; Ses Bahlui with a total number of 40 children; and refugee children with a total number of 52 children.

The winter period is a difficult time for us, because the weather does not allow us to support outdoor activities. Here, we refer to ses Bahlui area, where most of our beneficiaries from Iasi live. We keep in touch with them through our educational center. So we adapted all the activities with Mobile school to the indoor environment.

We used all the resources we have, panels from Mobile school, educational games, board games, to make our activities more attractive to them. We have our doors open for them, Monday through Friday, four hours a day, where they also receive a hot meal.

Unfortunately, not all children come to the educational center, or come very rarely. This is the big disadvantage in this period, because we can lose contact with some of them. Not entirely, but consistency is not maintained. Also, we helped them with winter clothes (jackets, boots, hats, gloves and socks), many of them wear shoes without socks because they don't have any. We were impressed by a little girl who didn't want to try on the boots, because she was ashamed that she didn't have socks.

Of course, we prepared for Christmas, with carols and letters to Santa. Here, is a letter from a 10-year-old boy to Santa Claus: “Dear Santa, I want a pencil box with everything I need, boots size 34 and jacket size 12. My mother wants oil, flour, and preserves. Dear Santa, I want to let you know that I was good and I did all my homework at Save the children. With love, Ricardo!”

In this area, Christmas is a beautiful time of the year, and all the children are waiting for Santa Claus to come. We did our best to give a gift to all the children. The joy on their faces cannot be described in words.
