Nepal adopted a new constitution recently and people of the Terai are unhappy with it. So, they are agitating since the adoption of the constitution for their political rights to be amended in the constitution. This is over three months by now and there is no sign of when this will end. Schools, offices and businesses are closed and the general life is severely affected. Some of the pictures from the agitation:
Offices and businesses are closed and roads are also blocked. Our in country team is ready to retrieve the mosquito net from the customs office but it has been impossible. Many vehicles tried to pass through were burnt and damaged. So, no one is prepared to bring the net from the customs office to the project location. Consequently, there is not much that can be done on this project until the agitation ends. Name list of the beneficiaries who will receive the mosquito net has been finalised long ago. The volunteers who will distribute and install the net are also being held.
We are being hopeful that the agitation will end soon and be able to complete the project at the soonest. Your support for the project is appreciated.
The NVF team also wish you Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
