Malaria, a deadly disease transmitted by mosquitos, remains one of the top health concerns for the people of Ouelessebougou, and for people in much of Africa.
One of the best, and most cost effective, methods of protection is a mosquito net.
Insecticide treated mosquito nets only cost $10 and can cover an entire family while they sleep, protecting them while mosquitos are most active. But, when you live on less than $1 a day, $10 can seem impossible.
The Alliance subsidizes the cost of the net so that villagers only have to pay $1. Not only does this give a family ownership of the net, but encourages both maintenance and participation in training - on how to use the nets and on malaria prevention.
We cannot claim 100% success with the nets. No organization can. But, with your help, we can continue to provide the best tools to protect the people of Ouelessebougou. With your help, we can help make it possible for a family to have a mosquito net.
Thank you for your continued support! Iniche!
