Help Survivors of Trauma and Violence in Mosul

Dear Friends and Supporters,

We are thrilled to update you on the recent accomplishments of the Jiyan Foundation in Bashiqa, located within the Nineveh Plain. Thanks to your generous support, we have successfully implemented democracy programs and mental health awareness initiatives in this community.

Our collaborative efforts have established human rights education programs in local schools. We utilized various engaging methods, such as artistic activities, seminars, and games, to educate children about their rights. Additionally, we conducted mental health awareness sessions and organized inter-ethnic and inter-religious dialogue programs, fostering coexistence among community members through seminars and open discussions. Over the past three months, over 70 individuals have participated in these activities in Bashiqa.

Bashiqa, situated between Mosul and Sheikhan in the heart of the Nineveh Plain, was once home to the third-largest Yazidi population in Iraq before the Yazidi genocide. However, the region has experienced immense hardship in recent years, including devastation and mass displacement due to ISIL terrorists.
