Diabetes is one of the most common non-communicable diseases around the world and is a major contributor to the escalating cost of healthcare worldwide. Recent surveys show that South Asians are at a high risk of developing diabetes, in Pakistan alone, almost 10% of males were diagnosed with Adult Onset Diabetes.
SHINE Humanity’s healthcare facility in Gharo helps in the diagnosis of the disease and also provides long-term treatment to diabetic patients who are unable to manage the disease on their own.
Rajesh, a low-income diabetic patient was diagnosed with the disease while quite young. Hailing from a poor family, he works as a tailor in a cousin’s workshop. Making hardly enough to cover costs of bare essentials, he was unable to treat his condition properly. A friend told him about SHINE Humanity’s clinic in Gharo, where not only would he be able to receive quality treatment from qualified doctors, but medicines would also be provided free of cost. Rajesh now visits the clinic twice a month where he is given diabetic medication at no cost to him.
This is the story of just one patient at our clinic who is benefitting from the generosity of our donors. Our clinic treats an average of 5,000 deserving patients per month. We are only able to treat them due to the faith our supporters have placed in our work.
Please continue to support our cause so patients like Rajesh are able to function and contribute to society.
With gratitude,
