Fouzia's journey of strength and survival

By Rubina Husain and Hareem Khalid Baig | Admin Assistant and Senior Associate Marketing

Fouzia, a resilient 30-year-old mother of five from Sehwan Sharif in Sindh, earns a modest living as a laborer at the revered Shrine of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar. Her days are spent selling vibrant threads "dhaaga" to pilgrims who come to pray and make wishes. While she works tirelessly to support her children, her husband survives by begging, and together they navigate the harsh realities of poverty.

Despite the scorching heat and the burden of walking barefoot with her baby in tow, Fouzia’s determination never wavered. Yet her health began to deteriorate, worn down by a poor diet and the relentless demands of her lifestyle. When she was diagnosed with peptic ulcers, her condition worsened, forcing her to abandon her work. The cost of treatment was beyond reach, and despair began to set in.

Hope arrived in the form of a neighbor who guided her to the SHINE Humanity Feroza Abbasi Sehat Center in Sehwan. There, Fouzia was welcomed with compassion. She received free medical care, essential medication, and guidance that helped her recover. With her health restored, she returned to the shrine, this time with renewed energy and a heart full of gratitude.

Fouzia now speaks with deep appreciation for SHINE Humanity Pakistan, offering heartfelt prayers for the organization that gave her strength when she needed it most. Her story is a testament to resilience and to the life-changing power of accessible healthcare.

SHINE Humanity’s mission to provide healthcare to the underserved is made possible by the generosity of donors like you. Your support helps rewrite stories like Fouzia’s every day. Thank you.
