Dear Supporters;

Sami is a 3 month old baby who was admitted to our pediatric ward at R.B.U.T Civil Hospital,Shikarpur on June 12,2013. He is the third child of his parents, who are too poor to seek his treatment elsewhere. Sami was severely malnourished and had acute watery diarrhea and a respiratory infection.  The staff in this unit provided timely and appropriate treatment for his diarrhea and respiratory condition and started him on the World Health Organization’s (WHO) protocol for the management of his malnutrition. Sami was sent home on the 17th when he was stable and better. Besides providing medicines free of cost in this unit, SHINE  Humanity is collaborating with UNICEF and the World Health Organization for the management of children admitted with malnutrition.

Diarrhea and respiratory illnesses are two of the commonest conditions encountered at our healthcare facilities. These illnesses can be prevented by  water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) measures - we are educating the parents of the children admitted at this hospital and the patients at our other facility in Gharo,Sindh regarding preventive measures for these illnesses.
Sustainability is one of the most pressing issues facing the WASH sector today. Because of this, we have endorsed the WASH Sustainability Charter- a common set of principles that outline the vital importance of sustainable measures. As a result, SHINE Humanity has earned a One Star Sustainable rating and we are featured on the SustainableWASH.org website.

We, at SHINE Humanity, are truly grateful  for your continued support, since 2010,  for the children being treated at the pediatrics ward of the R.B.U.T Civil Hospital in Shikarpur, and ask for your help at this project site and for the Mothers and Children at our new healthcare facility in Gharo,Sindh.

Please contribute to our project on GlobalGiving and help us better serve children like Sami and countless others.
