Little Asghar

By Zaheer Laghar, Naila Ahmed | Project Manager, Executive Director

Little Asghar * is the seventh child of Dhani Bux and Amina Bibi. They reside in a small coastal village along the Arabian sea in Sindh Pakistan. After an unseasonably heavy rainfall this September, Asghar fell ill with cough and high fever. As days went by, he started experiencing shortness of breath as well. Dhani Bux is a poor fisherman who rarely has money left over from basic necessities to take care of a sick child. When his wife insisted, he took Asghar to see a local doctor but his condition did not improve, it did not help matters that he did not have the money to give the doctor‘s fee as well as buy medicines for the child.
A neighbor told him about SHINE Humanity’s Khuti Khun Mobile clinic. He was happy to hear that a doctor visits his area two times a week and that the clinic gives free medicines for 3 days. The coming Wednesday, both parents took Asghar to see the doctor. The child was diagnosed with a chest infection/asthma and was nebulized immediately. He was given oral medications and advised a followup visit next week.
Within 3 days Asghar was feeling much better and happy to be playing with his siblings.

SHINE Humanity has been providing quality primary health care to an underserved population for four years now. Till now we have treated more than a quarter of a million patients, overwhelmingly women and children..

We have recently started a mobile clinic program at Kuthi Khun that is allowing us to reach an even more needy population. We cannot do this without the support of donors like you. We hope you will continue to donate generously and help us reach out to children like little Asghar.

Thank you

With Gratitude,

Naila Ahmed
