Aloha friends,
While we continue to raise funds for expanded tree planting in the native forests of Hawai'i, we thought we'd share an update from our other projects on the island.
In 2019, we donated an orchard to the Maku'u Farmers Market to support their kapuna community food donation program. The market and its fruit trees are connected to the Hawaiian Home Lands, with a focus on supporting food sovereignty and security for Native Hawaiian communities.
This year, the orchard caretakers shared with us that their citrus trees are maturing and producing fruit, with over 50 pounds of oranges harvested in just one day!
As the trees continue to grow and provide, we will be working hard to support more native and fruit tree planting programs across the Islands.
If you are able, please consider donating to our reforestation or orchard planting program here on GlobalGiving.
Mahalo nui loa,
