A Very Successful Year.
Year-end national exams have taken place in Burkina Faso and students at the Lycee Moderne de l’Amitie (LMA) have done extremely well: 81% of middle school students passed their exams, enabling them to go on to secondary school. 86.75% of seniors (at the secondary level) passed the Bac D (science) and 76.34% passed the Bac A (literature and philosophy), successfully completing secondary school.
The words of all village girls whose school lunches this project has supported are echoed once more by Rassiatou and Albertine: “The combination of high standards; good teachers; emphasis on consideration and respect for others, discipline, success, and self-control; AND A NOON MEAL (enabling us to study over the long noon break) have been crucial to our being able to succeed in our studies. As our parents are unable to pay for our noon meal at the LMA, we are VERY grateful for your support.”
As the LMA prepares for the new school year, we (Burkina Faso Girls’ Education Fund) are committed to supporting school lunches for over 100 village girls attending this school in the coming year. At a cost of $77 per student per year, we need to raise $7,700 in order to meet this goal. We need your help.
