Clothes for Children

By Aazer Durrani | Head of Marketing

According to the latest available official statistics, almost 30% of Pakistanis were living below poverty line of Rs3,030 per adult per month in 2013. This translates to roughly 59 million in absolute terms.

A more reasonable poverty line can be the international poverty line of $2 per day. As per this poverty line, a whopping 60% of Pakistanis are poor.

The Economic Survey 2018 revealed Pakistan’s percentage of people living below the poverty line has fallen to 24.3 percent in 2015-16 from 50.4 percent in 2005-06.

According to the Economic Survey, Pakistan’s poverty headcount has registered a prominent decline in the last decade or so at both the regional and national levels.

The fall in poverty shows more prominence in urban areas than rural areas, reported the Economic Survey 2018.

Ministry of Planning Development and Reforms on Wednesday informed the Senate that about 29.5 per cent of the country’s population is living below the poverty line.

The MPI findings show more than 60% of Pakistan’s population does not have access to cooking fuel, approximately, 49% do not complete schooling, almost four out of every 10 people (39%) do not have any assets and over 38% of the population lives in a one-room shelter. About one-third population does not have access to health facilities.

NUR Foundation took the initiative of not only educating these children, but also providing them with clothes. The numbers are increasing day by day but we still make it a point to distribute as many as we can among the needy children. Along with providing education to them, it is very important to nurture and groom them.

As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, we look forward to your support in letting us provide these children with clothes for EID which they can also use in the future. These children are deprived of numerous things and the least we can do is provide them with clothes.

Lets continue the support and make their lives better.

Keep your support coming and we hope it continues to grow in future.

Thank you so much!
