Providing new clothes for Eid to 1350 poor kids

Be it the scorching roads during summers or the ice laden walkways in winters, a large number of poor kids are seen walking barefoot. Even if they are not barefoot, the most that they are able to afford is stitching shoes out of plastic found in the garbage. When we look at the youth of the country laden in rags and plastic, it shakes us to the core.

Approximately thirty nine percent of the population of Pakistan lives below the poverty line (Pakistan Economic Survey 2016-2017) which means that the mentioned percentage is unable to afford the basic necessities of life. NUR Foundation while maintaining its aim of being socially responsible not only provides education to the underprivileged but also provides clothes to the needy. Provision of apparel to the needy shall help provide relief to the vicious circle of poverty.

Recently, NUR Foundation collaborated with Hush Puppies and donated Rs. 2.5 million worth of clothing to the deprived members of the society. In the future, we need more donors to cater to the rising number of poor in the society, hence, we request our esteemed donors to be the coat on someone’s body on a wintry night or a shoe on the feet which would otherwise burn while walking on the withering roads of summer.

While you lie today in the comfort of your quilts or blankets, try to imagine the pain of those who sleep in the streets with mere rags on their bodies. While your child goes to the school today with prim and proper uniforms in pursuit of a bright future try and look at those kids who cannot afford uniforms at all and despite that, they go to the schools and try to learn while their feet and hands turn numb because of the extreme cold. Envisioning the fate of the youth of the country gives us goose bumps. Hence, it is high time that everyone steps out to donate clothes and shoes to the underprivileged.

One of the major differences between humans and animals is that humans have the sense of grooming. If our youth lacks the basic skill of grooming, the benefits of educating them shall remain minimal. Hence, we need to take steps to ensure that our youth is provided with sufficient clothing.

Fatima Memorial collaborated with Firhaj Footwear to provide shoes to the more than 2000 needy individuals. We need more generous donations like these in order to cater to the rising need for apparel for the needy. Hence, we request you to join hands with us in our cause.
