A day of happiness

By Asma Rao | Head of Marketing and Resource Mobilization

Eid is the most celebrated event in Islam and brings with it joy and happiness;  Eid is celebrated  twice  a year; one comes after Ramadan which is Eid-ul- Fitr and the next one comes in Islamic month of Zilhajj which is Eid-ul- Adha.

Eid-ul-Fitr falls after a month of fasting and it is a day of celebration especially for children with new clothes and “eidi” which is a small sum of money they receive from parents and elder family relatives. It is a day to be with family, a day with lots of food and a day to hold close the joy this life can hold for us.

However, in Pakistan and for many across the globes such joyous occasions hold no meaning because they have to scrape by with whatever comes their way because of lack of employment, opportunities, an education and various other causes.

Fatima Memorial Hospital started its educational programs in underprivileged areas of Lahore and Dera Ghazi Khan in 1985 and today 1850 students are studying in our schools.

We, at Fatima Memorial Hospital try to do our bit by ensuring that very child who studies in our schools receive a new set of clothes every Eid-ul-Fitr because they come from financially constraint backgrounds.

However, it is very difficult for us to provide new clothes to every child; with Eid around the corner in July, we ask for your help to bring a smile on the little angels under our care.
