As part of our World Chimpanzee Day celebrations, we also hosted our 5th Conservation Career Day—this time at Iruhuura Primary School. We were honored to welcome Dr. Peter Apell—wildlife veterinarian and Director of Programs for the Jane Goodall Institute Uganda—as our featured speaker.
Dr. Apell captivated the 173 students in attendance with his career journey and the vital work he leads in wildlife conservation. He demonstrated some veterinary equipment, even giving some students the chance to try it out for themselves.
To mark the occasion, Dr. Apell also led an indigenous tree-planting ceremony with the students. We are deeply grateful to Dr. Apell for sharing his time and expertise and proud to see him as an inspiring role model for Kibale’s next generation of conservation leaders.
